A proverb is a short well-known expression that states a general truth or gives advice.

A saying is a well-known expression, or a remark often made, also known as a proverb

1. "A friend in need is a friend indeed"- a friend who gives you help when you need it( is a true friend).
2. "Better late than never".
3. "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"
4. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"- it's better to keep sth you already have than risk losing it by trying to get much more
5. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating"- you can only judge if sth is good or bad when you have tried it.
